Peaceful Retreat

A primary bedroom should feel like a retreat; comfortable, personal, and inviting without feeling overdone. For this mountain home, we created a bedroom that feels complete and thoughtfully layered while still maintaining a relaxed, effortless quality.

The design takes inspiration from the warm, earthy character of Santa Fe while complementing the surrounding mountain setting. Rich, vibrant pops of color bring personality and energy to the room, while cool blues balance the warmer tones and create a calming atmosphere.

The walls are painted in Benjamin Moore Newburyport Blue HC-155, giving the room a rich, sophisticated backdrop. The deep blue adds character while creating a sense of calm that feels especially fitting for a bedroom. Layered textures and natural materials bring warmth and depth throughout the space. Wood, woven elements, textiles, and organic finishes work together to create a relaxed, collected look that feels elevated without feeling formal.

The goal was never to create a room that felt perfectly styled or overly designed. Instead, every element was selected to contribute to a space that feels comfortable, cohesive, and reflective of the home's character. The finished primary bedroom is a peaceful retreat with just the right amount of personality—a place to unwind at the end of the day while still feeling connected to the warmth and spirit of its mountain surroundings.
