On Camera

Ever been on a conference call and seen that your office space just isn't it? Whether you’re hosting daily Zoom meetings, jumping on last-minute client calls, or presenting to a team, your workspace sets the tone. We recently revamped our home office in a way that makes us camera ready!

Functionality was just as important as aesthetics. A wide desk is perfect because it can hold monitors or a laptop with space to spread out. Built-in storage cabinets and hidden cable management keep everything looking tidy, so you’re never hunting for a charger or file mid-meeting.
Here is how we figured out the perfect way to structure this space. First we set up an iPad with the camera flipped so we could look and see what the backdrop of the camera would be. Then we kept sitting in the chair to make sure there anything weird coming out of our head on camera! It was great to play with the space and get everything just right.
It’s important to keep the artwork photos, lamps, and floral or other accessories, to reflect you and whatever business you are in. You don’t want to do anything that takes that is a distraction to the group you are meeting with.

Now this is what we call a backdrop. No more scrambling to clean up or angle your camera away from chaos. A curated background, like a bookshelf with a few thoughtfully placed items or an art wall with calming, symmetrical pieces, adds professionalism and polish without feeling staged.
