Set the Mood

Before a single item is ordered or a finish is finalized, every successful project starts with clarity, and that’s where mood boards come in. When starting a new project, mood boards are one of the most valuable tools we use to translate a client’s feelings into a cohesive design vision. They bridge the gap between inspiration and execution, turning abstract ideas into something tangible and shared.

Clients often describe how they want a space to feel rather than exactly how it should look. Mood boards allow us to capture that emotion through color, texture, materials, and imagery. These mood boards illustrate how a design can be carried throughout the home while still allowing each space to have its own identity.

By layering these elements together, we can see how the moving pieces interact how flooring complements paint tones, how finishes balance one another, and how the overall aesthetic comes together before any decisions are locked in.

Establishing this design direction early creates confidence on both sides. Mood boards set expectations from day one, ensuring everyone involved is picturing the same end result. This alignment leads to fewer revisions, less second-guessing, and a smoother design process overall. Instead of reacting to individual choices as they’re made, decisions are guided by a clearly defined vision.

Most importantly, mood boards help keep a home from feeling pieced together. They allow each selection to support the bigger picture, resulting in spaces that feel intentional, layered, and thoughtfully designed. By starting with a strong visual foundation, we’re able to move forward with purpose creating homes that feel cohesive, personal, and well considered from start to finish.
